It has come to light that Israeli forces are utilizing an AI-powered weapons system in Gaza, co-produced by Indian defence company Adani Defence and Aerospace, according to a report by UK-based media outlet Middle East Eye.
The report claims that Israeli forces are using the ARBEL system, a computerized small arms technology developed by Israel Weapon Industries (IWI) with assistance from Adani Defence. The ARBEL system, which was unveiled at the DefExpo 2022 in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, is said to enhance machine guns and assault rifles, including Israeli-produced models like the Tavor, Carmel, and Negev, by integrating algorithms that allegedly improve targeting accuracy and efficiency.
In a separate report, Adani Watch, a non-profit initiative founded by the Bob Brown Foundation, claimed that Adani is also involved in the development and manufacture of various assault weapons, sniper rifles, and machine guns in collaboration with IWI for the Israel Defence Forces (IDF).
The report also alleged that Adani is involved in the production of IWI's weapons, including the Tavor Assault Rifle, X95 Assault Rifle, Galil Sniper Rifle, Negev Light Machine Gun, and Uzi Submachine Gun, at a facility in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh.
The development came amid the shares in Indian billionaire Gautam Adani's conglomerate sunk again Friday after US charges alleging the tycoon paid more than $250 million in bribes to secure lucrative government contracts rattled investor confidence.
Wednesday's bombshell indictment in New York accused Adani and multiple subordinates of deliberately misleading international investors as part of the bribery scheme.
Adani Group issued a stiff denial of the charges against its directors on Thursday, describing them as "baseless" and announcing it would pursue "all possible legal recourse".
