Israeli naval commandos reportedly captured a key Hezbollah member during a raid in northern Lebanon's coastal city of Batroun on Friday. According to the Saudi Al-Hadath channel, the individual apprehended is identified as Imad Amhaz.

Lebanese journalist Hasan Illaik stated that over 25 Israeli soldiers carried out the operation, targeting a chalet near the beach. During the raid, a lone Lebanese national was taken into custody, and the commandos left the area via speedboats. Illaik also shared surveillance footage that appears to show soldiers escorting the detained individual.

The incident has prompted an investigation by Lebanese security officials. Some reports indicate that Amhaz may have been a Lebanese Navy officer with connections to Hezbollah.

As of now, Israeli officials have not confirmed the details of the operation or the identity of the individual captured. The situation continues to develop amid heightened tensions in the region.

Meanwhile, a Lebanese military source confirmed to AFP that unidentified naval commandos abducted a trainee mariner in the coastal city of Batroun, in an operation a judicial official said was likely carried out by Israel.

"A naval commando force kidnapped a civilian," the military source said on condition of anonymity, adding an investigation was underway to determine whether the operation was carried out by Israel.

A Lebanese judicial official said Israel was likely behind the "kidnapping operation", the first of its kind since the Israel-Hezbollah war erupted in September.

Speaking on the condition of anonymity to discuss sensitive matters, the official said there was a "90 percent chance" that Israel was responsible.

Contacted by AFP, the Israeli military said they were checking reports of the incident.

Iran vows response to Israel, US after attacks

Iran's supreme leader on Saturday vowed retaliation for attacks by Israel and its US ally, as a pro-Iran coalition in Iraq claimed a drone strike on Israel's resort of Eilat.

The Islamic Resistance in Iraq is among pro-Iran groups drawn into more than a year of war between Israel and Hamas in Gaza and Hezbollah in Lebanon.

Days before the presidential election in Israel's main military supplier, the United States, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei warned Iran's response would cover attacks on both the Islamic republic and its allies.

Israel's military said it intercepted three drones over the Red Sea, after late Friday reporting seven drones launched from "several fronts". The Islamic Resistance in Iraq claimed responsibility for four drone strikes on Eilat.

Hezbollah says targeted 'military industries' in Haifa, northern Israel

Hezbollah said on Saturday it carried out a rocket attack against Israeli "military industries" in Zvulun, near the northern city of Haifa, following a drone attack on a base south of Tel Aviv.

Twice on Saturday, "salvos of rockets" were fired at "the Zvulun base for military industries north of the city of Haifa", the Iran-backed militant group said in a statement. Earlier, it said it had launched drones at the Palmahim air base south of Tel Aviv. (With inputs from AFP)
