Tehran: Iran has said it has received proposals through mediators aimed at ending the renewed fighting with the United States, while warning that military operations will continue until it believes future attacks against the country can be prevented.

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei said on Monday that diplomatic messages had been passed to Tehran through intermediaries. However, he did not reveal details of the proposals or confirm reports of a possible temporary ceasefire.

He said diplomatic efforts were taking place alongside actions by Iran’s armed forces as the conflict with the US continues to intensify.

Iran says war will continue until deterrence achieved

Iranian army spokesperson Mohammad Akraminia said the country’s military strategy was focused on creating deterrence against future attacks.

He said Iran would continue its response until it believed another attack on Iranian territory would become unlikely.

The statement came as Iranian and US forces continued strikes after a breakdown of earlier efforts to pause the conflict.

Pezeshkian calls it a “full-scale war”

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian described the confrontation with the US as a “full-scale war”, saying the conflict was not limited to missile strikes and military operations.

He said economic pressure and the impact on people’s daily lives had also become part of the confrontation.

Pezeshkian said Iran would continue defending what he described as the country’s independence and national interests while also addressing internal economic challenges.

The latest escalation followed continued US airstrikes on Iranian targets, including areas believed to have military significance.

Iran responded with attacks targeting locations linked to US military presence in the region, including Bahrain and Kuwait.

The conflict has also affected commercial activity, with shipping movements through the Strait of Hormuz facing major disruption.

Strait of Hormuz raises global concerns

The Strait of Hormuz remains a major focus of international concern as it is one of the world’s most important energy routes.

A significant portion of global oil shipments passes through the waterway, and continued tensions have raised concerns about fuel prices, trade and global markets.

The escalation has already contributed to a rise in crude oil prices, increasing economic pressure in several countries.

US officials have said Washington remains open to diplomatic solutions, but they have accused Iran’s missile and drone attacks of creating obstacles to negotiations.

Iranian officials have rejected US claims and said any diplomatic progress must be matched by actions.

Despite ongoing discussions through mediators, there are currently no clear signs of an immediate end to the conflict.
