Tehran: A strike near the perimeter of Iran’s Bushehr nuclear power plant on Saturday morning killed a security staff member and damaged an auxiliary building, according to reports by Tasnim News Agency.

The incident occurred around 8:30 a.m. local time, with the strike hitting close to the plant’s outer fence. Initial assessments confirmed that the main nuclear facility remained unharmed and operations were not affected.

Authorities said the damage was limited to a nearby auxiliary structure, and there were no signs of radiation risk or disruption to power generation at the critical energy site.

Bushehr, located on the Persian Gulf, is Iran’s first commercial nuclear power station, making the incident a high-alert event amid escalating regional tensions.

Trump threatens strikes on Iran’s infrastructure

Earlier this week, US President Donald Trump warned Iran of potential strikes on critical infrastructure, including bridges and electric power plants, signalling a major escalation in Operation Epic Fury, which began on February 28.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump wrote, "Our Military, the greatest and most powerful (by far!) anywhere in the World, hasn't even started destroying what's left in Iran. Bridges next, then Electric Power Plants! New Regime leadership knows what has to be done, and has to be done, FAST! President DONALD J. TRUMP."

In response, the Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters issued a warning to the US and its regional partners. Spokesperson Ebrahim Zolfaghari stated that any attacks on Iran’s civilian infrastructure would be met with overwhelming force.
