Mexican model Fátima Bosch has been crowned Miss Universe 2025 after delivering a powerful final answer that resonated across the arena.

Mexico’s Fátima Bosch was crowned Miss Universe 2025 in an emotional finale in Thailand, securing the title with a powerful message that resonated across the arena and online. The 25-year-old, who had been a standout throughout the competition, took the crown as the crowd erupted into cheers, marking a historic moment for Mexico on one of the world’s biggest beauty platforms.
Visibly overwhelmed as the crown was placed on her head, Bosch stepped forward in her final gown, her hands trembling. Her victory came after months of preparation, years of determination and a final statement that struck a chord with audiences worldwide – a call for women to speak out, demand change and “make history” together.
Her winning moment and final answer
Bosch clinched the title with a confident and heartfelt response during the first question round, where she was asked, “In your perspective, what are the challenges of being a woman in 2025, and how would you use the title of Miss Universe to create a safe space for women around the world?”
She delivered her answer with unwavering conviction: “For your question, as woman, as Miss Universe, I will put my voice and the power in the service of others because nowadays, we are here to speak up, to make change, and have everything because we are women, and the brave ones that stand up are the ones that will make history. Thank you.”
Her full response was met with thunderous applause, and many in the crowd sensed that she had secured a lead she would not lose. Mexico’s delegate emphasised that despite the progress made, women still confront systemic barriers – from safety concerns to unequal opportunities – but insisted that this generation is no longer willing to stay silent.
During the second round of questions, Bosch was asked, “If you win the title of Miss Universe, how would you use this platform to empower young girls?”
Her answer, “As Miss Universe, I will say to them, believe in the power of your authenticity. Believe in yourself, your dreams matter, your heart matters. And never let anyone make you doubt about your worth, because you are everything. And you are powerful, and your voice needs to be heard. Thank you.”
Who is Fátima Bosch?
Bosch, from Santiago de Teapa in Tabasco, Mexico, is a fashion and apparel design graduate with no prior pageant experience before Miss Universe Mexico 2025. She won the national crown on September 13 at the Government Palace in Guadalajara.
The Mexican winner has spoken openly about living with dyslexia, ADHD and hyperactivity – challenges that made her vulnerable to bullying while growing up. Those experiences, she has said, sparked her passion for community service, which she began at the age of 14.
A finale overshadowed by dramatic controversies
This year’s Miss Universe pageant was fraught with tension even before the final night. Allegations of misconduct, walkouts and claims of voting irregularities cast a shadow over the event.
Host’s ‘Dumbhead’ remark sparks outrage
One of the most high-profile controversies involved Bosch herself. Two weeks before the final, she dramatically walked out of a meeting after Miss Universe host Nawat Itsaragrisil allegedly singled her out and called her a “dumbhead” during a dispute about promotional social media posts.
A livestream captured the confrontation, during which Nawat called for security as Bosch – still in her evening gown and sash – exited the room supported by Miss Iraq.
Speaking to reporters afterwards, Bosch said: “What your director did is not respectful – he called me dumb… The world needs to see this because we are empowered women, and this is a platform for our voice.”
The incident prompted several contestants to stand in solidarity before Nawat warned them to remain seated if they wished to continue in the competition.
Mexico’s President Claudia Sheinbaum weighed in days later, praising Bosch as “an example of how women should speak out” in the face of disrespect.
Following the global outrage, Nawat addressed the media on Wednesday with tears in his eyes. “I want to apologise to everyone. I had no idea how big this issue would become,” he said.
Judges resign over alleged ‘secret committee’
Another controversy erupted just days before the finale when judge and composer Omar Harfouch resigned, claiming the competition lacked transparency. In a series of social media posts, he alleged that an undisclosed “impromptu jury” had already selected the top 30 contestants before the preliminary rounds, rendering the official judging process meaningless.
He warned that the group allegedly included people with “significant potential conflicts of interest,” including supposed relationships between a contestant and a judge.
Harfouch said he could not participate in “playing with the destiny of young girls.”
