Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy, the newly appointed heads of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), have made it clear that they will not be receiving any payment for their leadership roles. Musk responded directly to a sarcastic remark made by US Senator Elizabeth Warren, who had questioned the efficiency of appointing two individuals to "do the work of one person."
Elizabeth Warren sarcastically remarked on the appointment of two individuals to “do the work of one person,” suggesting inefficiency. In a reply, Musk, dismissed her remarks, stating, “Unlike you, neither of us are being paid, so it is very efficient indeed.”
Musk, along with Ramaswamy, will head DOGE, which has been set up to focus on government efficiency. He further emphasised, "DOGE will do great things for the American people. Let history be the judge."
DOGE has been created as part of former President Donald Trump’s "Save America" movement. The department’s primary goals include reducing government bureaucracy, eliminating unnecessary regulations, cutting wasteful spending, and reorganising federal agencies. With this mission in mind, the aim is to streamline and improve the functioning of federal institutions.
