The strike, which hit an adjacent parking lot, occurred amid a wider regional conflict. Dubai's air defense systems were activated across the city to intercept threats.

Dubai: Emergency crews extinguished a fire near the U.S. Consulate General in Dubai late Tuesday night following a suspected Iranian drone strike, as a wider regional conflict entered its fourth day.
Authorities confirmed the blaze was successfully contained and reported no injuries. The incident occurred amid high alert for air defence systems across the Gulf following U.S. and Israeli strikes on Iran that killed Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei and other high-ranking officials.
The Dubai Media Office stated on X, "The fire near the US Consulate in Dubai has been fully extinguished, with no injuries reported. Dubai authorities reaffirm their commitment to ensuring everyone's safety and security."
U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio confirmed that a drone impacted a parking lot adjacent to the diplomatic facility. Rubio noted that all consulate personnel were accounted for following the strike. A regional source cited by CNN attributed the attack to an Iranian drone, part of a retaliatory campaign by Tehran against American and Israeli assets.
The strike coincided with widespread air defence activity over the city.
"Authorities in Dubai confirm that sounds heard in various areas across the city were the result of air defence interception operations," the Dubai Media Office said in a separate statement. "The relevant Dubai teams continue to closely monitor the situation and are taking all necessary measures to ensure public safety. The public is advised to rely exclusively on official sources for accurate updates."
The United Arab Emirates Ministry of Defence reported it has neutralised the vast majority of incoming threats since the conflict began. On Tuesday, the ministry identified 812 Iranian drones, "of which 755 were intercepted, while 57 fell within the country," according to CNN.
The hostilities have caused massive disruptions to global travel and energy markets. Brent crude futures were trading at approximately $81.80 per barrel as the violence escalated.
Aviation has come to a near standstill as major hubs, including Dubai International and Doha’s Hamad International, operate under stringent restrictions. As of March 3, the closure of airspace over the UAE, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia has left tens of thousands of travellers stranded, including an estimated 8,000 passengers in Qatar alone.
