New York: Former US Vice President Kamala Harris made a striking debut at the 2025 Met Gala, captivating fashion watchers with a bold new look that departed from her signature style.

As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, Harris wore a bespoke black-and-cream gown designed by Off-White’s creative director, Ib Kamara. The look elegantly reflected the evening’s theme, ‘Superfine: Tailoring Black Style’, which honoured the influence and evolution of Black fashion and tailoring.

Best known for her crisp pantsuits, Harris surprised many with her refined yet dramatic appearance. The gown featured a flowing sleeve and a silk scarf detail, embodying both sophistication and subtle power.

Kamara, in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter, said the design aimed to highlight Harris’s poise and inner strength—qualities he views as central to the concept of modern dandyism. “The precise simplicity of this black and cream look for Kamala D. Harris complements her own strength and confidence, two qualities I consider to be the core of dandyism,” he explained.

The 2025 Met Gala also marked the launch of the Costume Institute’s spring fashion exhibition, ‘Superfine: Tailoring Black Style’, with a high-profile roster of co-chairs including Colman Domingo, Lewis Hamilton, A$AP Rocky, Pharrell Williams, and Anna Wintour. NBA star LeBron James, originally named an honorary chair, had to withdraw due to a knee injury.
