Kulman Ghising, former Nepal Electricity Authority chief, appointed interim PM after KP Sharma Oli's resignation following Gen Z protests

Kathmandu: Kulman Ghising has been named Nepal’s interim Prime Minister after KP Sharma Oli stepped down on Tuesday following mass protests against a ban on several social media platforms. He is the former managing director of the Nepal Electricity Authority.
As per sources, Nepal’s Gen Z protesters have put forward names such as former Chief Justice Sushila Karki, Kathmandu Mayor Balendra Shah, and former electricity board chief Kulman Ghising as possible candidates to head an interim government. Former Chief Justice Sushila Karki has been in talks with Nepal Army Chief since this morning.
Nepal’s Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli resigned on Tuesday after two days of violent Gen Z-led protests sparked by a ban on platforms such as X and Facebook, though the restrictions were lifted a day earlier on Monday.
