Cape Town: At least 10 people were killed in a shooting at a hostel in South Africa early Saturday, officials said.

The attack occurred around 4 a.m. (SAST) when gunmen stormed the building and opened fire on residents. Several people were injured and taken to nearby hospitals.

“I can confirm that a total of 25 people were shot,” police spokeswoman Athlenda Mathe told AFP, adding that 14 were hospitalized.

Local media reported that multiple suspects entered the hostel before firing indiscriminately at those inside.
