Abu Dhabi: Shrapnel from an intercepted ballistic missile injured five Indian nationals in Abu Dhabi on Saturday, according to government officials.

The Abu Dhabi Media Office confirmed the injuries, describing them as ranging from minor to moderate. The victims were struck by falling debris following the successful interception of a missile by the United Arab Emirates’ air defence systems.

The incident occurred in the vicinity of the Khalifa Economic Zones Abu Dhabi, known as KEZAD. Earlier in the day, authorities reported that emergency crews were working to extinguish two fires sparked by the falling wreckage within the industrial hub.

The Media Office did not specify the origin of the missile or the current condition of the injured individuals beyond their initial assessment.

UAE authorities urged the public to rely exclusively on official government sources for information and warned against the dissemination of unverified rumours regarding the strike.
