Riyadh: King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh is operated by Riyadh Airports Company. The airport’s main terminal operations will undergo major changes starting early 2026. Under the new arrangement, Terminal 5 will be designated for international flights of foreign airlines. Terminals 3 and 4 will be assigned for domestic flights. Terminals 1 and 2 will continue to serve international flights operated by national carriers.

This will be the first such major change since Riyadh Airport opened 40 years ago.

As one of the most significant development initiatives at the airport, this shift aims to support the strategic vision for Riyadh’s airports, introducing comprehensive operational and organisational improvements.

As part of the project, redesign work will first be completed to preserve the airport’s original architectural identity. Later, a major operational redistribution will be carried out among the terminals.

This major transformation of terminal operations is expected to increase capacity, improve the movement of passengers between terminals, reduce waiting times, and enhance overall passenger experience and service quality. The final date for implementing the operational changes will be announced once all airport partners and airlines confirm full readiness.

The changes are being carried out in coordination with the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) and the Airports Holding Company, as part of a broader strategy to improve passenger experience at the country’s main airport. It includes several development measures aimed at increasing operational efficiency and raising the standard of services for passengers.
