
Thiruvananthapuram: According to Norka 24 Malayalis have died in Kuwait fire. Norka-Roots CEO Ajith said that seven of the dead are yet to be identified and efforts are being made to bring the bodies home as soon as possible. He informed that they are waiting for official confirmation of the names of the deceased.
Seven people who were seriously injured in the accident are currently receiving treatment at various hospitals. Some have already been discharged. Efforts are underway to repatriate the deceased to the country at the earliest. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Kuwaiti Embassy are working together to coordinate these efforts.
Two NORKA help desks are operational to provide assistance. The global contact center helpline desk is offering 24-hour support in Kerala through NORKA's toll-free number. The help desk in Kuwait is operating with the assistance of various associations and the two desks are sharing information with each other.
About eight people are at the help desk in Kuwait and they are working in the mortuary, hospitals, and other locations. The company is currently in the process of identifying the bodies of the deceased. Official confirmation of deaths can only be revealed once the company completes the identification process, and they are awaiting this confirmation.
However, the current information indicates that 24 people have lost their lives. There is ongoing communication with the embassy. The government will hold discussions to make a decision regarding repatriating the injured individuals back home.
