Registration for the Norka Care Health and Group Personal Accident Insurance Scheme is nearing its end, with the last date set for October 30. Non-Resident Keralites (NRKs) are urged to complete their enrolment before the deadline to avail the benefits.

NRKs must hold a valid NORKA identity card before registering. Eligible cards include the Pravasi ID Card for NRKs abroad, Student ID Card for Keralite students overseas, and NRK ID Card for those residing in other Indian states.

What these ID cards offer

Pravasi ID Card (NRKs abroad): ₹5 lakh coverage for accidental death and ₹2 lakh for permanent or partial disability.

Student ID Card (students abroad): Launched in April 2020, offers ₹5 lakh personal accident cover for death and up to ₹2 lakh for disability.

NRK ID Card (NRKs within India): Introduced in June 2012, provides ₹5 lakh for accidental death and ₹2 lakh for disability.

NPRI – Critical Illness Cover: ₹1 lakh for critical illness, ₹3 lakh for life accident, and ₹1 lakh for permanent or partial disability.

Register: Visit id.norkaroots.kerala.gov.in

and create an account.

Submit application: Complete the form and make payment online.

Approval: Receive a digital ID card followed by physical delivery.

Enrolment for Norka Care insurance

After obtaining the ID card, NRKs can register for Norka Care, which offers ₹5 lakh health insurance and ₹10 lakh group personal accident coverage. The scheme was inaugurated by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on September 22, 2025.

Individual registration: Visit norkaroots.kerala.gov.in or use the NORKA mobile app (Android & iOS).

Group registration: Conducted through NORKA-approved Pravasi organisations. Non-approved associations can get a temporary ID for mass enrolment.

Corporate clients: Companies employing large numbers of Malayalees abroad have a special registration option.
