Former Uber India and South Asia president Prabhjeet Singh is reportedly set to join OpenAI as its managing director for India, marking a significant step in the artificial intelligence company's efforts to strengthen its presence in one of its fastest-growing markets.
According to ANI, Singh will become OpenAI's most senior leader in India and will oversee the company's performance across consumer growth, enterprise adoption and strategic partnerships.

Prabhjeet Singh is a technology and business executive with experience spanning investment banking, management consulting and the mobility sector.
He completed his schooling at Delhi Public School, R.K. Puram, before pursuing a B.Tech degree from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kharagpur. He later earned an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Ahmedabad.
Singh began his professional career as a senior analyst at Lehman Brothers. After a brief stint there, he joined McKinsey & Company, where he spent more than nine years advising businesses across sectors.
In 2015, he joined Uber as a general manager and went on to hold several leadership positions within the company. Over nearly 12 years at Uber, he rose through the ranks to become president of Uber India and South Asia.
When he took over as the head of Uber India in 2020, Singh said he looked forward to working with teams across the company to strengthen its services and product offerings while focusing on safety, sustainability and customer experience.

Singh is now reportedly preparing to join OpenAI as managing director for India, where he is expected to spearhead the company's growth strategy, enterprise business and partnerships in the country.
