New Delhi: Gautam Adani, the second richest man in India and currently ranked 23rd on Forbes’ global rich list with a net worth of $67.1 billion, draws a notably modest salary compared to several top executives within his own conglomerate.

As per the recently released annual reports of Adani Group companies, Adani earned a total remuneration of ₹10.41 crore in the financial year 2024–25 -- a 12% increase from ₹9.26 crore the previous year. Interestingly, this salary came from only two of the nine listed Adani Group companies.

From Adani Enterprises Limited (AEL), the group’s flagship firm, Adani received ₹2.54 crore, including a basic salary of ₹2.26 crore and ₹28 lakh in allowances. From Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (APSEZ), he earned ₹7.87 crore -- comprising ₹1.8 crore in salary and ₹6.07 crore in commission. In comparison, his earnings from APSEZ in the previous fiscal year totalled ₹6.8 crore.

Adani earns less than his executives

Despite his billionaire status, Gautam Adani’s remuneration is significantly lower than many senior executives across the Adani Group. AEL CEO Vinay Prakash earned a staggering ₹69.34 crore in FY24–25, which includes ₹4 crore in salary and ₹65.34 crore in allowances and performance-linked incentives.

Vineet S Jain, Managing Director of Adani Green Energy Limited (AGEL), took home ₹11.23 crore, while Adani Group’s Chief Financial Officer Jugeshinder Singh earned ₹10.4 crore during the same period.

Family members’ earnings

Adani family members also feature prominently in the company’s remuneration list. Gautam Adani’s son, Karan Adani, received ₹7.09 crore from APSEZ, while the company’s CEO, Ashwani Gupta, earned ₹10.34 crore. Notably, both Karan Adani and Ashwani Gupta’s variable pay for FY25 will be disbursed in FY26.

Among other relatives, Gautam Adani’s younger brother Rajesh Adani earned ₹9.87 crore from AEL. His nephews Pranav Adani and Sagar Adani received ₹7.45 crore and ₹7.50 crore respectively, the latter drawing his remuneration from AGEL.
