Kochi: The market for premium chocolates is fast expanding in Kerala. Catching up with the trend, Milma has become the latest brand to foray into the ever growing business of chocolates. With the goal of introducing healthy products to its consumers, the milk marketing federation is gearing up for the launch of its own brand of dark chocolates in the market; the products will be unveiled on November 1.
It is a known fact that dark chocolates constitute 60pc cocoa. Hence, Milma would be importing cocoa required for the production of its chocolates. The federation chairman KS Mani informed Mathrubhumi that the production of Milma chocolates will be taking place at Surat.
Three varieties of dark chocolate and a type of milk chocolate will be introduced in the market by Milma in the month of November. The chocolates are named ‘Delisa’. They will be available in packets weighing 70 grams and 35 grams. While 70 grams of other branded chocolates cost somewhere around Rs120-Rs130, the same quantity of Milma chocolate will be available for less than Rs 100, making it a pretty cost effective option. Apart from these products, two varieties of biscuits and a snacks bar named ‘Chocofull’ will enter the market under brand Milma.
The first leg of sales of the newly introduced items will happen through the Milma parlours and through several super-hyper markets. Later on the products will be distributed to other business outlets as well. Milma is preparing to introduce more healthy products in the market in the coming days.
