Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (KINFRA) has marked a significant milestone, generated 27,335 jobs and attracted private investments worth Rs. 2232.66 crore over the past three years. This accomplishment was made possible by allocating 211 acres of land and 5.34 lakh sq ft of built-up area for 419 industrial units.
Industries Minister P. Rajeev highlighted that 35% of the total investments and 40% of the employment opportunities generated by KINFRA throughout its existence have been achieved in just the past three years. "We have managed to come close to the achievements of the period 2016-21 within a significantly shorter timeframe," he noted.
KINFRA, over its three-decade existence, has established 31 industrial parks across various sectors, generating a total of 70,000 jobs and attracting over Rs. 6500 crores in private investments.
KPM Muhammed Haneesh, Principal Secretary of the Industries stated that this initiative is expected to bring in Rs. 10,000 crores in investment and create approximately 22,000 direct and 80,000 indirect employment opportunities at the Palakkad node.
Additionally, the Gift City in Ernakulam is projected to attract Rs. 3000 crores in investment and generate 10,000 direct and 20,000 indirect jobs, contributing around Rs. 600 crores annually to the state exchequer.
