Kochi: Kerala’s export revenue has fallen sharply under the impact of geopolitical conflicts. According to figures released by the Union Ministry of Commerce and Industry, the state’s export earnings in 2025 stood at Rs 45,753.43 crore, marking a 33.74 per cent decline compared to Rs 69,051.69 crore in the previous year.

Kerala accounts for just 1.21 per cent of the country’s total export revenue. The state ranked 15th nationally in export earnings during 2025. Gujarat topped the list with exports worth Rs 9,70,560.55 crore, followed by Maharashtra with Rs 6,06,382.29 crore. Neighbouring states Tamil Nadu (Rs 5,16,611.84 crore) and Karnataka (Rs 3,06,117.67 crore) secured 3rd and 4th positions respectively, while Uttar Pradesh ranked 5th with Rs 2,01,449.73 crore.

So far in 2026, Kerala has earned Rs 7,315.31 crore through exports. The state has now slipped further to the 16th position in export revenue rankings.

Ernakulam Continues to Lead

Among Kerala districts, Ernakulam continues to lead in export revenue. In 2025, the district recorded export earnings of Rs 27,551.95 crore. However, this too reflected a decline of over 47 per cent compared to Rs 52,334.69 crore in the previous year. Alappuzha and Kollam secured the 2nd and 3rd spots with export revenues of Rs 5,949.53 crore and Rs 2,080.99 crore respectively. They were followed by Thrissur (Rs 1,995.47 crore), Kottayam (Rs 1,530.23 crore), Palakkad (Rs 1,526.09 crore), and Thiruvananthapuram (Rs 1,172.03 crore).

Kasaragod recorded the lowest export revenue in the state at Rs 57.32 crore. Product-wise export data, however, has not been made available.
