Today was all about IndiGo and Maha Kumbh, the airline has increased its flights and seat capacity to and from Prayagraj to meet the demand arising from the Maha Kumbh, not just that in another set of good news, the airline has slashed flight tickets by 30-50% on Prayagraj route.
The airline has almost doubled its flight capacity from the initial 490 to 900 flights to and from Prayagraj during the entire duration of Maha Kumbh totalling to over 1.6 lakh seats
The airline has also increased connectivity to Prayagraj to 10 locations to include Ahmedabad, Kolkata and Jaipur, it said. It was already operating flights from and to Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Lucknow, Raipur and Bhubaneswar from Prayagraj.
The airline has also increased capacity on existing routes through addition of frequency and operations of A321, its larger aircraft.
Not just that, after a rap from the DGCA and MoCA over rise in air fare on the Prayagraj route, IndiGo has leapt into action and slashed the ticket prices by almost 50%. If you are planning to go for a holy dip in the Maha Kumbh, IndiGo is certainly a lucrative option with flexible flight schedules and slashed prices.
Let’s look at the ticket prices on Prayagraj route –
A ticket from Delhi to Prayagraj for February 2 right up to February 15 is available for INR 13,513. At the same time, the flight ticket price from Mumbai to Prayagraj for February 3 is showing Rs 20,606.
Apart from ramping the Prayagraj capacity and slashing the ticket prices, IndiGo pulled another stunner today as its chief executive, Pieter Elbers visited the Maha kumbh Mela. Talking about his experience on the LinkedIn post, Elbers said that it was a once in a lifetime experience for him and that the sheer scale of the gathering is impossible to grasp.
“Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj. Once in 144 years...the largest gathering of mankind on planet Earth!” Elbers said in his social media post.
He said that the number of people visiting the Mahakumbh this year is larger than the population of the United States. “45 Crores...450 million visitors in only 45 days. The sheer scale is impossible to grasp... similar to Europe's population and more than the USA,” wrote Elbers. He further added that no word, sentence or photograph could adequately describe the energy of the place. “Humbled and grateful to be a part of something so divine,” he added.
On another note, IndiGo has also launched direct flights between Indore and Bhubaneswar from February 7, 2025. This new route aims to provide a convenient and efficient travel option between the two vibrant cities, significantly reducing travel time and enhancing connectivity.
