Good news for expatriates and a significant move to bolster air travel between Kerala and the Gulf region, IndiGo Airlines has announced the launch of direct flights connecting Kannur International Airport (CNN) to Muscat, the capital of Oman. This new service is scheduled to commence on April 20, 2025, operating thrice weekly on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.

The introduction of this route marks IndiGo's second Gulf destination from Kerala, following its operations from Kochi. The new flights are anticipated to significantly benefit the substantial expatriate community from northern Kerala residing in Oman, offering them a more direct and convenient travel option.

Kannur International Airport has rapidly evolved into a crucial hub for both domestic and international travel, currently facilitating connections to 11 Gulf destinations. The airport's existing services include 17 weekly flights to Abu Dhabi, 12 to Sharjah, 12 to Doha, and daily flights to Dubai and Muscat.

The addition of the Kannur-Muscat route by IndiGo is expected to further enhance the airport's connectivity and support the growing demand for air travel between Kerala and the Gulf region. This development underscores IndiGo's commitment to expanding its international network and providing passengers with more travel options. Besides, the route will ease the travel options for Omani-based Indians from northern Kerala with a more direct and accessible route to Oman at their disposal.
