Petrol prices in India remained largely unchanged over the past 10 days. Check city-wise petrol and diesel rates and the latest LPG price update.

India’s petrol prices have recorded marginal movement over the past 10 days, staying within a tight band of ₹103.50 to ₹103.54 per litre. As of Friday, January 2, 2026, the rate shows only a slight day-on-day variation. Motorists can check today’s petrol prices across states and districts, with figures inclusive of state taxes, and track changes from the previous day.
Petrol pricing in India is shaped by global crude oil trends, domestic taxation policies and rupee–dollar exchange rates. Available data shows that petrol remains more expensive in India than in several neighbouring countries, primarily due to higher central excise duty and state-level VAT levied on fuel.

LPG price update
The price of a 14.2 kg domestic LPG cylinder in Mumbai stands at ₹852.50, unchanged since April 2025, when rates were increased by ₹50. Over the past 12 months, LPG prices across India have risen by ₹50 between December 2024 and November 2025.
Domestic LPG prices in India are set by state-run oil marketing companies and are reviewed on a monthly basis. LPG remains the primary cooking fuel for most Indian households, making price movements a key concern for consumers, particularly amid broader fuel cost pressures.
To ease the impact on households, the central government continues to offer subsidies on domestic LPG cylinders. The subsidy amount is credited directly to beneficiaries’ bank accounts after purchase. Subsidy levels vary each month and are linked to international benchmark LPG prices and foreign exchange rate movements.
