Precious metal prices in India moved higher on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, with gold, silver and platinum all recording gains, reinforcing their appeal as safe-haven assets amid uncertain global conditions.
Gold prices edged up marginally across all purity levels. 24-carat gold was priced at ₹14,216 per gram, up by ₹1 from the previous day, while 22-carat gold stood at ₹13,031 per gram. 18-carat gold also saw a similar increase and was trading at ₹10,662 per gram. In bulk terms, 10 grams of 24-carat gold cost ₹1,42,160, and 100 grams were valued at ₹14.21 lakh.
Gold rates remained broadly stable across most major cities. Mumbai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Kerala and Pune all quoted identical prices. Chennai continued to command a slight premium, with 24-carat gold trading at ₹14,314 per gram, while Delhi and Ahmedabad saw marginally higher rates than the national average.
Silver prices extended their recent upward trend, reflecting sustained industrial and investment demand. Silver was priced at ₹270.10 per gram, translating to ₹2,70,100 per kilogram, a rise of ₹100 compared with the previous day. Over the last ten days, silver prices have climbed sharply from ₹2.41 lakh per kg, highlighting increased market volatility.
City-wise silver rates showed some variation. Chennai, Hyderabad and Kerala recorded higher prices at ₹2,87,100 per kg, while Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata and several other cities traded at ₹2,70,100 per kg.
Platinum posted the strongest daily gain among the precious metals. The metal surged by ₹251 per gram to trade at ₹6,809 per gram, while the 10-gram price jumped by ₹2,510 to ₹68,090. On a larger scale, 100 grams of platinum was valued at ₹6.81 lakh. Platinum prices remained uniform across all major Indian cities.
Market observers note that precious metals continue to attract attention as hedges against economic uncertainty. With upcoming global cues likely to influence sentiment, bullion prices are expected to remain under close watch in the near term. (With inputs from Agencies)
