Gold and silver prices in India witnessed a slight decline on Monday, 25 May 2026, reflecting subdued movements in international bullion markets and cautious investor sentiment. Despite the minor dip, precious metals continue to remain a preferred safeguard against inflation and economic uncertainty among Indian consumers and investors.
The price of 24-carat gold stood at ₹15,905 per gram, down by ₹1 from the previous session. Meanwhile, 22-carat gold was priced at ₹14,579 per gram and 18-carat gold at ₹11,928 per gram, both also registering a marginal fall of ₹1 per gram.
Among major cities, Chennai recorded the high gold rates, with 24-carat gold trading at ₹16,068 per gram and 22-carat gold at ₹14,729 per gram. Other metropolitan centres including Mumbai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Pune reported largely uniform pricing trends.
Silver prices also edged lower. The metal was quoted at ₹284.90 per gram and ₹2,84,900 per kilogram nationwide, marking a decline of ₹0.10 per gram and ₹100 per kilogram. Chennai, Hyderabad and Kerala continued to report comparatively higher silver prices than other regions.
Market analysts noted that fluctuations in global commodity prices, movements in the US dollar and expectations surrounding interest rate decisions continue to influence domestic bullion rates. Traders expect gold and silver prices to remain volatile in the near term as investors closely monitor international economic indicators and geopolitical developments.
