Fuel prices across India remained largely unchanged on Friday, with only marginal fluctuations recorded in select states. In Mumbai, petrol is retailing at ₹103.50 per litre, slipping slightly from ₹103.54 a day earlier. Diesel in the financial capital stands at ₹90.03 per litre.

Across major metropolitan centres, rates have held firm. In New Delhi, petrol continues at ₹94.77 while diesel is priced at ₹87.67. Kolkata and Chennai also reported no revisions in fuel rates. Hyderabad retains the highest petrol price among metros at ₹107.50 per litre, while Thiruvananthapuram closely follows at ₹107.48.

Fuel prices in India are revised daily in line with international crude oil benchmarks and currency movements. State-level levies and value-added tax (VAT) structures further influence retail prices, leading to variations across regions.

Among states, Andhra Pradesh continues to record one of the highest petrol prices at ₹109.74 per litre. Meanwhile, Andaman & Nicobar offers a low petrol rate at ₹82.46. Diesel prices show a similar pattern, with Telangana and Kerala among the costlier markets.

The daily revision mechanism, introduced in June 2017, replaced the earlier fortnightly system to better align domestic diesel prices with global trends. Despite minor state-level adjustments, the broader picture suggests price stability across the country. (With inputs from Agencies)
