Thiruvananthapuram: Banks will not be functioning for four days since Saturday. March 13 is second Saturday and March 14 is Sunday while there will be a nation-wide banking strike on March 15 and 16.
All associations of banking employees will be participating in the strike organised against the privatisation of public sector banks.
The people are concerned if the ATMs will run out of money when banks remain closed for four days continuously. However, the bank authorities said that it is unlikely to happen.
The offsite ATMs which are situated far from the bank branches are refilled by outsourcing agencies. As these agencies are not taking part in the strike, the ATMs are unlikely to run out of money.
The onsite ATMs close to the bank branches offer facilities to withdraw and deposit money. When the banks do not function, the public can rely on these ATMs to deposit money.
