Amazon has announced the expansion of its Future Engineer (AFE) programme in India, adding 500 new scholarships for 2026 aimed at female engineering students from low-income backgrounds.

With this latest intake, the initiative now supports around 2,200 scholars. Each recipient will receive ₹2 lakh in financial assistance over four years while pursuing B.E. or B.Tech degrees in computer science or related fields.

Alongside financial aid, the programme offers laptops, technical bootcamps, mentorship from Amazon engineers, webinars through Amazon Women of the World (WoW), and paid eight-week internship opportunities after the second year.

Amazon said it has invested approximately ₹50 crore (around USD 6 million) in the programme since 2022. Its wider computer science education efforts have reached nearly 4.8 million students across more than 50,000 government schools in India.

The company also highlighted the outcomes of its first graduating cohort in 2025, which recorded an 89% placement rate, with students securing roles at Amazon and other leading global firms.

Launched in 2022 with 200 scholars, the programme has expanded steadily each year and is implemented in partnership with the Foundation for Excellence and NavGurukul, which provides technical training support.
