Kochi: Police have registered another case against YouTuber Muhammed Nihad, popularly known as "Thoppi", following allegations that he shared nude videos of his friends on social media without their consent.
The Kochi Rural Cyber Police registered an FIR against Nihad and launched a detailed investigation into the matter. The complaint alleges that private and explicit visuals of his friends were uploaded and circulated on social media platforms without their permission.
According to police, the case pertains to the alleged unauthorised publication and dissemination of private content. Cyber investigators are examining Nihad's social media accounts and other digital evidence as part of the probe.
Nihad, who enjoys a significant following on social media, has previously been involved in several controversies. Police are also investigating the case under the relevant provisions of the IT Act.
Officials indicated that further legal proceedings, including questioning of the YouTuber, may follow as the investigation progresses.
Last year, Thoppi was taken into police custody after allegedly pointing an air pistol at private bus employees during an altercation. Two associates were also detained in connection with the incident.
The confrontation occurred on the Vadakara-Kainatty National Highway as Nihal was travelling to Kozhikode. Allegedly, a private bus approached his car carelessly, prompting Nihal and his companions to follow the bus to the Vadakara bus stand. There, a heated argument ensued, during which Nihal reportedly brandished an air pistol that does not require a license. Bus workers managed to intercept Nihal and his associates as they attempted to leave the scene, subsequently handing them over to the police.
