Aryanad (Thiruvananthapuram): A YouTuber has been arrested for allegedly attacking the Aryanad Station House Officer (SHO) with an iron chair and vandalising a police jeep in a violent incident that occurred late Saturday night.

The accused, identified as Yadukrishnan (23), a native of Uzhumalakkal, runs a YouTube channel under the name “Yadu,” police said. He is currently in custody.

SHO Devarajan, who sustained a deep head injury, is undergoing treatment at a private hospital in kattakada. He reportedly required six stitches.

According to police, the accused had earlier posted on social media claiming he would attack the police station. The incident took place around 11 pm.

Yadukrishnan allegedly stormed into the police station premises, smashed the windows of a police jeep parked outside, and abused officers when they confronted him. He then reportedly entered the station, smashed a liquor bottle on a desk, and fled towards the nearby Aryanad primary health centre.

The SHO, who was staying in quarters nearby, reached the hospital after being informed. While officers attempted to take the accused into custody, he suddenly attacked the SHO with an iron chair, causing a head injury.

Police personnel present at the scene managed to overpower and arrest him after a brief struggle. He was later produced before the Nedumangad court and remanded in custody.

Police also noted that about a month and a half ago, a doctor at the Aryanad hospital was similarly attacked by an intoxicated group.
