Visual of Irshad being held as hostage
Kozhikode: A youth from Kozhikode has allegedly been abducted by a gold smuggling gang. Irshad, a Peruvannamoozhi native, was found missing from May 23 onwards.
The family said the gang abducted Irshad after alleging that he had taken their gold. We received threats from them demanding to return the gold, said the family.
Irshad arrived from Dubai on May 13. Later, he went to Kozhikode on May 23 after informing the family that it was for official purposes. Sometime later, the family started receiving threats from this gang. Initially, the family refused to contact the police after the gang threatened to kill them. The family said they also received an image of Irshad in their captivity.
Nabeesa, Irshad's mother, said she received the call from a person called Nassar, who threatened to kill Irshad and dump his body in a sack if she tried to inform the police.
