Youth caught changing number plate 51 times to cheat AI cameras, fined Rs 60,000

Kakkanad: A young man from Kothamangalam was caught changing the number plate of his bike 51 times to avoid traffic violations. He was finally caught and fined Rs 60,000.

MVD was able to identify the fraud when they called the owner to alert about the fine. When they realised that the number seen on the camera was wrong and the owner of the vehicle with that number was not the violator, they investigated further.

The man was caught after the Enforcement RTO's ‘Ernakulam squad’ was deployed to find the violator. The squad tracked down the youth by observing his routine from the visuals and showing his picture to shops and people in the area. The man was charged with 51 violations of the law in the last three months. He has so far paid Rs 53,000 of the fine and has asked to pay the remaining Rs 7,000 later.
