
Pariyaram: A youngster, who had met with a freak accident in Pariyaram on January 27, succumbed to injuries this morning, around 8:30 AM.
Srikanth (24), suffered burn injuries when the petrol tank of his bike exploded due to a fragment of a firecracker falling onto it.
The youngster was undergoing treatment at the Kottayam medical college with over 70 percent burns.
The accident happened around 5:45 PM amidst the temple festivities in Saint George Church in Pariyaram.
At the time of the accident, the pillion rider had gone to a nearby shop, leaving Sreekanth alone on his bike. A firecracker accidentally landed on the bike, causing the petrol tank to explode with a loud thud. Sreekanth was thrown off the bike and suffered injuries, while the bike sustained severe damage. Sreekanth was a welding worker. He is the son of Divakaran. Nearby shops also suffered damages due to the impact of the explosion.
