Jamal, a native of Vallakkadavu in Thiruvananthapuram, had been working at a bakery in Kuttur, Tirur, for the past five months.

Tirur: In an unfortunate incident, Malayalam writer Eenchakkal Jamal drowned in a temple pond at Thrikkandiyur Mahasivakshetram on Saturday evening. He was 60.
The incident happened around 6 p.m. while he was taking a bath.
Police and Fire Force officials recovered the body and shifted it to the mortuary of Tirur District Hospital, but it initially remained unidentified. A railway official, who saw Jamal’s photograph in the newspaper, informed a friend, which eventually led to the family identifying him.
Jamal, a native of Vallakkadavu in Thiruvananthapuram, had been working at a bakery in Kuttur, Tirur, for the past five months.
Jamal was also a writer and designer. He is survived by his wife Fathima, children Suhail and Aleesa, and daughter-in-law Soliha.
