Kozhikode: A worker died after entering a waste tank at a building under construction in Kozhikode. The incident occurred at Muttoli. By the time Fire and Rescue Services personnel pulled the workers out of the tank, one of them had died. The deceased has been identified as Siraj, a native of Palazhi.
The accident took place on Muttoli–Payimbra Road, where a waste tank was being built as part of a new building project. Siraj reportedly entered the tank for work in the morning and got trapped inside.
A man identified as Viswanathan, who was at a nearby courier office, entered the tank in an attempt to rescue Siraj. Both men are believed to have suffered from suffocation due to lack of oxygen or toxic gases inside the tank.
While Siraj succumbed, Viswanathan remains in critical condition and has been admitted to a private hospital in Kozhikode.
