
Thrisssur: The woman who died of COVID-19 in Chavakkad has been laid to rest as per COVID protocol. Kadeejakutty (73), wife of late Muhammed from Anchangadi here died after battling with COVID-19 on Wednesday.
The body which was kept in Chavakkad hospital was took for burial on Friday by 6.15 am. The last rites were held at Chavakkad Kadappuram Adithiruthi Juma Masjid strictly adhering to COVID protocol. The burial was done by four volunteers of the NGO White Guard. They were given training by the health department.
None of the relatives were allowed to come closer to the body. Five persons who came in contact with Kadeejakutty including her son and ambulance driver are quarantined. Their samples were sent for testing.
Kadeejakutty went to Mumbai three months ago to visit her daughters and she could not return due to the lockdown. Later, she applied for travel pass through NORKA and returned. She along with three others travelled in a car till Perinthalmanna via Palakkad.
As she felt some breathing troubles, her son came in an ambulance from Chavakkad and picked her at Perinthalmanna. She was admitted in Chavakkad taluk hospital in the wee hours. Though they tried to shift her to Thrissur medical college as her condition worsened, life could not be saved.
Kadeejakutty already had diabetes, high blood pressure and breathing difficulties. The health department is preparing a list of people who came in contact with Kadeejakutty.
