Thiruvananthapuram: A giant whale shark, trapped in a fishing net, and washed ashore was released into the sea on Thumba beach here on Monday. The incident happened a day after a shark washed ashore on the beach under a similar circumstance.
The shark was trapped in a fishing net used by the fishermen. When the net was pulled ashore, the fishermen noticed that the shark was trapped in it. Following this, they released the shark from the net and allowed it to return to the sea.
Earlier, a whale shark died on the beach after getting washed ashore on Sunday morning. Repeated efforts from the fishermen to save the shark go down in vain. Fishermen pointed out there will be more sharks in the area of the sea.
