Kannur: Police registered a case after an over-the-top wedding ceremony disrupted the traffic and created chaos here.
The incident pertaining to the case happened last Sunday morning. The groom reached the bride’s house in Varam, Kannur, mounted on a camel and accompanied by a band. The setting attracted a large number of passersby, resulting in traffic congestion on the road leading to Kannur International Airport. Finally, the police arrived, chased away the onlookers with lathis and restored traffic.
The Chakkarakkal police have registered a case for organising the wedding procession in a manner that disturbed traffic and created a public nuisance. The case has been lodged against 26 people including the groom Rizwan. The Mahallu committee intervened and said that a warning would be issued.
