Kasaragod: Kasaragod native PN Pushparajan was supposed to marry Mangaluru native K Vimala on Monday between 11 am and 12 pm. However, due to lockdown regulations their marriage took place on Monday at 6.30 pm.

Vimala, who was coming from Mangaluru, got stuck at Thalappady check post, causing the delay. The wedding was supposed to take place at a temple near Pushparajan’s house in Badiyadukka.

Due to the lockdown regulations, Vimala decided to bring only her mother to the wedding venue. They applied for a pass to enter Kerala few days back. Since they had no other way, they mentioned medical emergency as the reason for visit in the application. Pushparajan’s brother told that Vimala and her mother completed the procedures as per the instruction of some public representatives.

They reached the Kerala border on Monday morning at 7 am. However, the officers refused to let them enter Kerala as they did not have a valid pass. Following this, they contacted the district authorities and tried to secure a spot pass. Finally, they were allowed to enter the state at 4 pm.

Pushparajan was waiting for Vimala and her mother at the check post from morning. Once they were given entry, Pushparajan took them to his house. And by 6.30 pm, the marriage ceremony took place at the house. Both Vimala and her mother are under 14-day quarantine in Pushparajan’s house.

Meanwhile Kasargod district collector, D Sajith Babu, said that the spot pass application was filed only at 11 am and that the officers at the check post did everything could to get them a pass at the earliest.
