Kochi:Dr. Vignesh Ujjwal, son of celebrated athlete and Rajya Sabha member P.T. Usha and V. Srinivasan, married Krishna, daughter of Ashok Kumar and Shini, in a lavish ceremony at Le Meridien Hotel on Monday. The event saw the attendance of prominent figures from the sports, political, and film arenas.

“This marriage is the next stage in the life of the son. It is the greatest joy in the life of a mother. It is an arranged marriage. It has been four years since the son started looking for marriage. He got the girl he liked the most and the kind of girl he wanted as his partner. After the proposal came, both of them understood each other. After that, they decided to get married,” PT Usha said.

Vignesh Ujjwal, who studied sports medicine, is a doctor at the School of Athletics founded by PT Usha.

Among the attendees were boxing legend Mary Kom, actor Sreenivasan, Union Minister of State George Kurien, and MP John Brittas.

 

Mary Kom arrived in traditional Kerala attire, wearing a golden saree, golden jewellery, and jasmine flowers in her hair. Speaking about Kerala cuisine, she said she enjoys vada, sambar, idlis, and rice. On whether eating rice is good for fitness, she commented, “"As long as it’s not too much, it’s fine."
