Nilambur: Cherupuzha in Malappuram witnessed a panic situation on Tuesday night when a wild jumbo charged at the local people present on road. The people ran helter-skelter to save themselves while the jumbo hit the bike parked near a store with its tusk.

Later, forest officials and locals warded off the jumbo to the forest region. It is learnt that the jumbo has moved to Vallikkett region. Cherupuzha and Vallikett regions are in Karulai panchayat and lying adjacent to Nilambur forest area.

Karulai has been witnessing rampant elephant attacks. Though locals have been demanding the authorities concerned to resolve the issue, they feel neglected without any proactive solutions.

The CCTV visual of the attack that happened around 8:30 pm has emerged on social media.
