Kochi: UDF convenor Benny Behanan stated that the Life Mission project in Wadakkanchery was the second Lavalin deal in Kerala.
There was corruption of Rs 8 crore in the project. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and Minister for Local Self Government A. C. Moideen received commission for the deal. A CBI probe should be held into the incident, the UDF leaders demanded.
Every action taken by Minister A. C. Moideen has violated rules. Rs 19 crore was handed over from the UAE consulate through a bank in two instalments. But only Rs 12 crore was spent on the project. A share of Rs 3.5 crore was given to Swapna Suresh, Sivasankar, Pinarayi Vijayan and Moideen, Benny Behanan alleged.
Rs 8 crore was misappropriated in this case, not just Rs 1 crore disclosed by the media. CBI should probe into this second Lavalin case, Benny Behanan said and added that the UDF was taking over the issue.
