Her death comes just months after the passing of her elder brother, V S Achuthanandan, in July this year.

Alappuzha: Azhikutty, the sister of late Communist leader V S Achuthanandan, passed away due to age-related illnesses on Wednesday night. She was 95.
Her death comes just months after the passing of Achuthanandan in July this year.
At the time, Azhikutty was bedridden and unable to attend the farewell ceremony. She affectionately referred to the veteran Communist leader as ‘Annan’ (elder brother), and the bond between the siblings remained strong throughout their lives.
It was well known that Achuthanandan made it a point to visit her every Onam, maintaining the tradition even amidst his demanding political life.
After Achuthanandan withdrew from public life due to ill health, Azhikutty would reportedly call his Thiruvananthapuram residence each evening to check on his condition, a daily ritual she observed with unwavering dedication.
She was the wife of the late Bhaskaran. She is survived by her daughter, Thankamani.
Her funeral will be held on Thursday at her residence, Venthalathara House, located in Punnapra Panchayat.
