Thrissur, Kerala: The United Democratic Front (UDF) has filed a complaint alleging voter fraud in Thrissur Lok Sabha constituency, pointing to irregularities in the voter list of Booth No. 30 in the Poonkunnam area.

The complaint states that ten votes were added at the final stage under the flat address of Prasanna Ashokan, a 52-year-old registered voter at the Harisree Vidyanidhi School polling centre. However, the woman came forward stating that, aside from her own name, she had no knowledge of the other individuals.

Prasanna lives with her family in Flat 4C, Lane Capital Village Flats in Poonkunnam Ashram. However, her husband, son, and daughter-in-law are registered voters in the Cherpu area. The additional names linked to her flat on the voter list are people she does not know.

Prasanna told Mathrubhumi that despite lodging a complaint with the Election Commission, no action has been taken so far. The voter list connected to her flat includes ten names, including hers, but she is unfamiliar with the other nine individuals.

These names appeared in the final voter list published on April 4, 2024, and were already under scrutiny following a formal complaint filed prior to the election. On April 24, the Congress booth president submitted a complaint to the returning officer alleging 45 fake votes spread across Capital Village, Chaitram Apartment, and Top Paradise flats within Booth 30.

Congress Thrissur district president and booth president reported that the irregularities were discovered during the distribution of voter slips. Though concerns were raised at the polling station on voting day, the collector reportedly ruled that all names on the list should be allowed to vote.
