Vinodini Balakrishnan summoned by Customs today

Kochi: CPI (M) former secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan’s wife Vinodini Balakrishnan will have to appear before the Customs department on Wednesday. She was summoned for questioning in connection with an expensive smartphone allegedly gifted by builder Sanotsh Eapen, who faces probe for irregularities in the Life Mission project. However, Kodiyeri and his family affirm that they have not received any notice from Customs.

When the central agencies were probing the gold smuggling case they found irregularities in the free housing project. Eapen had told probe agencies that he had gifted mobile phones and all phones were seized by the Customs. However, an expensive phone could not be traced which customs claim they have found used by Vinodini Balakrishnan.
