Thiruvananthapuram: Actor Vinayakan has found himself at the centre of yet another controversy after making derogatory remarks about veteran filmmaker Adoor Gopalakrishnan and legendary singer KJ Yesudas in a Facebook post. The actor not only named both individuals but also shared a photograph of Yesudas alongside his post.

The post has sparked widespread backlash, with social media users criticising Vinayakan’s comments as offensive and in poor taste. Many have called out the actor for targeting the duo.

Adoor’s earlier remarks had stirred debate

The controversy comes in the wake of an earlier row involving Adoor Gopalakrishnan, who had drawn flak for his remarks at a cinema conclave. He had said that Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe (SC/ST) and women filmmakers receiving government funding should undergo at least three months of mandatory training under industry experts.

His comments were widely condemned as discriminatory, drawing sharp reactions from several quarters, including notable public figures.

Vinayakan no stranger to controversy

This is not the first time Vinayakan has courted controversy. In the past, he has been criticised for making derogatory statements about prominent political leaders, leading to significant public outrage on those occasions as well.
