Kannur: In a surprise development, veteran Congress leader and Kannur DCC secretary C Raghunath has announced his decision to join BJP.

Earlier today, he revealed to Mathrubhumi.com that he would join the BJP. He is known for being a close confide of KPCC president K. Sudhakaran.

In the recent assembly election, he contested against Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan in the Dharmadam constituency.

However, in recent months, he had expressed his willingness to leave the Congress owing to several factors, including the group politics inside the party.

"I began working with KSU in 1973, at Brennen College, with Sudhakaran. Recently, I complained to Sudhakaran that I had been excluded from the party for six months, but nothing changed," he said.
