Former minister Veena George and her family escaped with minor injuries after their vehicle met with an accident at Chithara, near Kollam, on Thursday afternoon.
According to initial reports, the Innova Crysta in which they were travelling skidded off the rain-soaked road around 1 pm and crashed into a nearby electric post. The impact caused the post to collapse and left the front portion of the vehicle heavily damaged. The car also struck a motorbike parked along the roadside, damaging the two-wheeler.
Officials said waterlogging due to continuous heavy rain likely caused the vehicle to lose control. No one in the car suffered serious injuries, and all occupants were assessed to be safe.
Veena George and her family were en route from Pathanamthitta to Thiruvananthapuram at the time of the incident. After the accident, they continued their journey in another vehicle.
