Even after securing bail, he reportedly repeated his warning and claimed he would publicly take his own life if Satheesan was denied the top post

Kochi: Francis, popularly known as Prince John, the Congress worker from Koorunthruthi who recently threatened to commit suicide if V.D. Satheesan was not made Kerala Chief Minister, has now celebrated the latter’s elevation with a milk bath.
Days after warning that he would set himself ablaze if Satheesan was overlooked for the post, Francis on Friday poured 50 litres of milk over himself in celebration after it became clear that the Congress leader would assume office.
Speaking during the celebrations, Francis said Satheesan’s appointment reflected the wishes of thousands of ordinary party workers. He also thanked the Congress High Command for accepting their demand.

Francis had earlier threatened to end his life by pouring petrol over himself within an hour if anyone other than Satheesan was chosen as Chief Minister. Following the incident, Koorunthruthi police registered a case against him after he climbed atop his pick-up auto-rickshaw at Kuruppanthara Junction and allegedly attempted suicide.
Even after securing bail, he reportedly repeated his warning and claimed he would publicly take his own life if Satheesan was denied the top post. Reports said he had kept petrol ready for the purpose.

However, as Satheesan’s appointment became certain, Francis abandoned the protest plans and instead arranged celebrations, preparing milk payasam and laddus for distribution.
