Idukki: The entry fee for the Vagamon glass bridge, India’s longest cantilever glass bridge, has been reduced. Tourism Minister PA Mohammed Riyas informed that the fee has been brought down from Rs 500 to Rs 250 per person.
This was done in the wake of requests made by the public during the inauguration and through social media asking the Minister to make necessary interventions to reduce the rate.
Following this, the Minister directed the Idukki District Collector to look into the matter. The new development comes in this context.
The 40-metre-long bridge was jointly built by DTPC and Perumbavoor-based Bharat Mata Ventures. The total cost of the bridge is estimated at Rs 3 crores. It required 35 tonnes of steel and a special type of glass imported from Germany.
