Kochi: V4 Kochi leader Nipun Cheriyan, has been denied bail in the case related to removing the barricades and unauthorisedly opening the newly constructed Vyttila flyover. Meanwhile, Ernakulam CJM court granted bail to three V4 Kochi activists who were also arrested on Wednesday.

V4 Kochi founders Angelose, Raphael and worker Sooraj were granted bail in the case. The bail has been granted on the condition of 2 persons standing as surety and remitting an amount of Rs 25,000. The bail application of Shakkeer Ali, Antony Alvin and Sajan Azeez, who were arrested on Thursday morning, will be considered on Friday.

Meanwhile, V4 Kochi representatives stated that they will approach the High Court for the bail of Nipun Cheriyan. V4 Kochi leader Vijesh told mathrubhumi.com that they had nothing to do with the incident and that they were targeted by the police.

The barricades at one end of the flyover was opened on Tuesday night and vehicles were allowed to go through the flyover. Following this, police arrested 7 people , including Nipun Cheriyan, accusing V4 Kochi to be responsible for the incident. V4 Kochi had conducted a protest march to the flyover on December 31 demanding for the it be opened for traffic.
